OUR LOVE STORY
How we met
If you were to ask Kory, he would have a different story to tell, but PICTURE IT: "The Village, NYC" during Pride 2022. Sebastian was navigating through the bustling crowd, simply minding his own business. As he wandered, admiring the boys around him, he spotted a young man who seemed oddly familiar. He brushed it off and continued enjoying his night. Twice more, he encountered this same man. On the third occasion, Sebastian decided to approach him and introduce himself. "Hi, I hope this doesn't come off as strange, but I feel like I recognize you from somewhere. I've seen you a few times tonight, and I'm trying to figure out how I know you." Kory looked back, smiled, and replied, "Hi, I’m not sure who you are, but it’s nice to meet you." Sebastian grinned, suddenly realizing where he recognized Kory from: THE APPS. He recounted his memory and told Kory where they had crossed paths before. Kory shrugged and said, "OK." They exchanged a few more minutes of light conversation, and Sebastian mentioned he was on his way to a party in Brooklyn. He offered Kory a ride home, as they lived in neighboring cities. Sebastian ended up giving Kory a ride "home," and the rest is history.
Fast forward to
Three months after their initial meeting, Kory and Sebastian made an "official" commitment to each other as boyfriends. Sebastian was the first to say the words "I love you," and he assured Kory that he did not have to express those words until he truly felt it. "143", a song made popular by Musiq Soulchild, became their way of expressing their love for one another.
Kory and Sebastian evolved from lunch and dinner dates, along with texts and casual conversations, to excursions and weekend getaways. Their international travels together began when Sebastian, a fourth-generation Rattler, invited Kory, a first-generation PWI graduate, to a FAMU cruise to the Bahamas. Since that cruise, the couple has developed an online presence as KoSe, crossing waters and borders to France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, London, Belgium, Austria, Brazil, and Puerto Rico.
The couple also soon realized that they were no longer bachelors and that it was time to join households. Just short of a year in, Kory left behind his quaint 1 BR apartment in the neighboring town of Harrison, NJ, to create a home together with Sebastian at his apartment in Newark. The transition to a joint home, while not easy, provided the opportunity for the two to learn about each other on a deeper level, work and grow through challenges, and celebrate moments of triumph together. For it is home where the two hearts always meet.
The proposal
Sebastian was determined to make his proposal unforgettable. He rallied his amazing friends and family to ensure everything went smoothly. Since he’s not the most sentimental guy but knows Kory is, he decided to pop the question at the very spot where they first met: the corner of Christopher Street and 7th Ave during NYC Gay Pride weekend 2024. You might wonder how gay that is—well, it was right in front of Stonewall and the Gay Liberation Monument! With his friends' support, Sebastian proposed to Kory while Quinze & Bob Sinclar’s remix of Stephanie Mills' classic “I Never Knew Love Like This Before” played in the background. Believe it or not, he even got down on one knee, which we all know is a big deal for him! LOL Kory said yes, and the rest is history.
